AbandonmentThere are two types of abandonment to consider: abandonment of the premises by the tenant, and abandonment of goods by the tenant at the rented premises. When a tenant leaves rented premises with out giving the required notice or before a fixed term is over, the landlord may be able to treat the premises as abandoned. The Residential Tenancies Act sets out rules as to how the landlord can recover any money owing from the tenant. If a tenant abandons property or goods at the rented premises the Residential Tenancies Act sets out rules as to how the landlord can deal with it. May 2005 |
