Complaint to Service Alberta

There are a number of offences that a landlord might commit under the Residential Tenancies Act. For example, the landlord entered the rented property in circumstances not permitted under the Act, or failed to return a damage deposit as required by the Act. Complaints can be directed to Service Alberta who may investigate the case and take action.

Remember! In all circumstances where you believe your landlord is not behaving as required by the RTA or your tenancy agreement, you must keep paying the rent. You can still pursue your complaint or legal action, but if you stop paying rent your landlord can evict you on 14 days notice.
