Where a person occupies land as a tenant with the consent of the owner of the land, on the terms that either party can end the tenancy at any time. Common examples include a person who is allowed into premises while the parties are still negotiating the terms of the lease; a purchaser of property who is allowed into the property pending completion of the deal; and a tenant whose lease has expired but whom the landlord permits to hold over.
