Paying a Security Deposit to a Building Manager
A building manager can act as a landlord. If the tenancy agreement is made between the tenant and the building manager, the law says that the building manager is responsible for looking after the security deposit.
| For example, Cindy might own a building and employ Bob as a building manager. Bob completes tenancy agreements and collects the security deposits. |
If you have any suspicions that the building manager might not have the authority of the owner to rent property, or if you suspect that the building manager is renting the same property more than once, you should contact the owner to confirm that things are in order before you pay the deposit.
